We’ve been shopping for walkie talkies for a LONG time! Basically, Greg has wanted them ever since we moved into the van in 2018. But, We’ve always held off because it’s hard to figure out who has the best walkie talkie.

Rocky Talkie Radio Review
For our Rocky Talkie Radio Test, we implemented some very scientific testing methods. Kidding. Basically, Greg drove the motorcycle around the woods and tried to radio me from different distances. I stayed with the van near a boondocking camp. Greg drove further away each time, until eventually he was unable to reach my radio.
Overall, we determined that in forests, the Rocky Talkie Radios worked up to about 1-2 miles away. In situations where we could maintain line of sight, the radios worked much further: up to about 3-4 miles away.
Rocky Talkie Radio Review Results
All in all, we are really happy with our radios. We have used them while driving in a caravan with other vehicles several times now. It is very helpful to communicate with others without having to use a phone. Especially when you are off the grid with no service. They are easy to use, stay charged for a very long time, and are small enough to fit in a pocket or clip to a backpack strap without hindering movement. Shop for your set here!
